(06-18-08) - Etowah County officials gathered at Nocalulla Falls today to discuss the future of Lookout Mountain Parkway, which spans through Gadsden and into Georgia and Tennessee. The Parkway is currently recognized as a state scenic route and the group is seeking to have it designated as a federal scenic byway. The three phases in the process are eligibility, designation and implementation. Transportation Planner Tim Hatton presented today’s Corridor Management Plan, which concluded the designation phase.
The overall goal is to bring more tourism to the areas surrounding the parkway.
