(02-12-09) More than two hundred small-businessmen and women are a step closer to getting business contracts with the Marshall Space Flight Center and NASA's primary contractors. The Northeast Alabama Business Forum was held today at Gadsden's Convention Hall. It featured representatives of NASA, the Anniston Army Depot and other government agencies and contractors who want to do business with local companies. Businesses from around the nation sent representatives to learn how they can participate in providing products and services for the third largest government contracting center in the world. Organizer Bruce Cornutt says the number of attendees was well beyond what he originally expected. The success of the event could mean more conferences to help match area small businesses, government agencies and primary government contractor in the future. Currently, the Huntsville space and military complex spends billions of dollars a year on development of the space and missile programs for the United States.
