Operation Sunrise

In Etowah County,  the Sheriff’s Office, Drug Enforcement Unit, FBI and U.S. Marshals Service are among 12 law enforcement agencies working together to reduce felony and misdemeanor warrants in the county. They have taken 43 people into custody on 60 warrants today. Four teams, totaling about 50 law enforcement officers hit the streets around 5 a.m. for a warrant round-up titled, “Operation Sunrise”. They have seized small quantities of marijuana and about a pound and a half of methamphetamine. At the start of today’s operation, 150 people were wanted for more than 200 warrants. Individuals who know they have a warrant against them are encouraged to turn themselves in at the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office or Drug Task Force.
