Football fans in the state of Alabama will get a very nice treat this weekend with two in-state rivalries with big time implications.
The Jacksonville State Gamecocks will make their 14th appearance in the post-season and their fourth since 2003. JSU will host the Samford Bulldogs who earned a spot in the 24-team bracket with an 8-4 record.
The Gamecocks’ berth likely had a lot to do with how they ended the season. JSU won four of their last five games and now begin a four week march to the national championship.
JSU students are off this week for Thanksgiving which is an added bonus for the team. The players will get a chance to catch up on rest before playing the biggest game of the season.
JSU and Samford start the FCS playoffs at Burgess-Snow Field in Jacksonville this Saturday; kickoff is set for 7:00pm. The winner faces the No. 6 overall seed McNeese State.
