Saks Preps for Semifinal Game vs. Madison Academy

Wednesday, November 27, 2013

For the first time since November 8th the Saks football team will get to play in front of their home crowd. The last two weeks, the challenge was traveling three-plus hours to play and the challenge this week is facing the defending state champions.

TV24 Sports caught up with the Wildcats at practice Tuesday afternoon. The weather forced the team indoors for their semifinal preparations. Saks will host undefeated Madison Academy on Friday night. The Mustangs are averaging 43 points per game behind the talents of SEC prospects Malik Miller and Kerryon Johnson.

For people who look at the matchup strictly on paper, the argument is common opponents. Madison Academy beat Piedmont by one point in overtime last week (quarterfinals) and Saks beat Piedmont 40-15 in week 7. But if you believe that’s how this team is gauging the matchup- think again.

Saks and Madison Academy is one of three semifinal matchups involving teams in the East Alabama Community. In Class 4A Munford will host Oneonta and in Class 5A Southside travels to Muscle Shoals.
