Trial Date Set For Former St. Senator Lowell Barron
A judge has scheduled the trial of former state Sen. Lowell Barron of Fyffe and former campaign aide Rhonda Jill Johnson for April 14. A DeKalb County grand jury indicted Barron and Johnson last spring on campaign finance and ethics charges. The charges accuse them of diverting $58,000 from Barron's 2010 campaign account and a campaign car for Johnson's personal use and for non-campaign uses. The two have pleaded not guilty. Barron is a Democrat who held prominent positions in the Senate, including president pro tem, before losing his re-election campaign in 2010.
