Etowah County Commissioners are working to fill a position vacated after an employee’s arrest. Commissioners accepted former personnel director, Jennifer Taylor’s resignation in October. She resigned after deputies arrested her at her office. They charged her with computer tampering. Investigators say Taylor performed a criminal check on someone and then used that information to open numerous accounts. Later this month, the commission plans to vote on a proposal to name County CEO, Patrick Simms as the personnel director. He would perform duties under both jobs as a cost-saving measure. The county could save as much as $50,000 by consolidating the positions on an interim basis. We’ll hear more from Simms on this proposal Friday night on TV24’s Primetime News.
