Roc Thomas Wins AL Gatorade Player of the Year

Oxford star running back Racean "Roc" Thomas is entering what could be a massive awards season. On Thursday, the Gatorade Company named Thomas the 2013 Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year. Thomas rushed for 2,211 yards and 32 touchdowns in his senior campaign.

The Gatorade POY award not only acknowledges the top athletes in the state but also the best students. In order to be selected, student-athletes have to maintain at least a "B" average.

With the win, Thomas is also a finalist for the Gatorade National Player of the Year. The Auburn commit rushed for 6,169 yards and 82 touchdowns in his high school career and led the Jackets to a 9-3 record in 2013.
