Etowah County Commissioners should decide later this month whether to name county CEO Patrick Simms as personnel director Simms says he came up with the proposal after the after Jennifer Taylor’s arrest in October. Simms says he believes it giving him the extra duty will save the county money in preparation of future financial constraints. Simms says he’s researched his plan and that it’s in line with nearby counties with about the same population. The county commission will vote on Simms’ proposal later this month. Former personnel director, Jennifer Taylor resigned in October after deputies arrested her at her office. They charged her with computer tampering and identity theft. Investigators say Taylor performed a criminal check on someone and then used that information to open numerous accounts.
