Liveable Communities Winner

Anniston revitalization continues to move forward. The city is a winner in the “Liveable Communities’” competition. The competition awards each winning city with $250,000 to develop local food systems. It is a way to revitalize downtown areas. The project hopes to promote economic diversity in Anniston. The Environmental Protection Agency, the Appalachian Regional Commission and the Department of Agriculture selected Anniston for the Livable Communities program. The program will help Anniston develop community and neighborhood gardens as part of a downtown revitalization project. The program also selected Corbin, Kentucky, Pikeville, Tennessee, and Aberdeen, Mississippi.
