A local organization that meets the demand of Calhoun County citizens gets a $10,000 award. The Community Enabler serves the needs of the poor. The 42 year old organization participates in the public advocacy of the disadvantaged. The building the non-profit functions out of is due for a much needed renovation. The old building requires upgrades and replacements. The $10,000 NEEP-energy Efficiency grant from Alabama Power will help the Community Enabler continue to serve and provide more to so many. This upgrade will make the new Community Enabler facility more energy and cost efficient. The changes will make the establishment easier to manage on a monthly basis. Last year, the organization served over 5000 local citizens. Community Enabler provides food, clothing, furniture, and personal items to those who need it most. To qualify for the NEEP-energy Efficiency grant, non-profits in consideration must own their building.
