Hokes Bluff Update

Saturday, December 14, 2013

The Hokes Bluff Elementary School and Hokes Bluff Middle School investigation continues.  School officials and the Alabama Department of Health requested assistance from the CDC.  They hope to find what caused the problem that made the school evacuate on Thursday. Officials evacuated Hokes Bluff Middle School when multiple students were overcome with illness. The outbreak of respiratory problems affected nearly 30 people all but one of them students. The 19 people kept in the hospital are in stable condition. Officials conducted a walk-through this morning, but found nothing. The CDC is carefully checking the school’s air quality. Hokes Bluff Middle School was closed today along with the elementary school due to its proximity. Both campuses may hold classes in a different location next week.
