Etowah County residents have a reason to feel safer in times when tornadoes threaten. The Etowah County EMA is going high tech with the implementation of an app to protect its citizens. The EMA, local businesses, community centers, public buildings, and churches have joined forces to provide citizens with this new app. The app will help people looking for areas of refuge during severe weather. This app was developed through a collaborative partnership with Jacksonville State University. The new downloadable Shelter Etowah app for Android devices is offered in the Google Play Store. Just type in Shelter Etowah. An app for the Apple market is in the works. It is also available on the EMA’s social media page.
