Imagine waking up and having your natural gas service turned off during this hazardous cold season. That is exactly what happened to Alagasco customers in the downtown Gadsden area. According to Alagasco officials, the natural gas outage occurred because of the record demand on a newly installed pipeline. Alagasco crews went door to door to inform customers of the situation and alert them that their meters would be turned off temporarily. Even though Alagasco crews went door to door several customers reported they were not notified. Some customers were unaware of the outage until seeing a tag on their meter that said because of extreme danger the gas had been temporarily cut off. Alagasco officials say crews worked to get service restored as quickly as possible.
