New Kitty Stone Elementary Proposal in Jacksonville

One local school system continues to explore options to build a new elementary school. The Jacksonville Board of Education met to discuss a comparative review of the two potential sites for a new facility. Walter T. McKee of McKee and Associates Architecture recommends that George Douthit Drive would be the best location for a new elementary school. The crowd of 50 voiced concerns over plans for Kitty Stone Elementary. The architect said a new elementary school would have to encompass about 85,000 square feet to accommodate approximately 800 students. Jacksonville Board of Education President Mike Poe and the other board members expect to vote on the issue at a meeting on January 21.
