Postal Service Price Increase
An increase in postal prices takes effect. Price changes by the United States Postal Service occurred over the weekend. An increase in the price of a First-Class Mail single-piece letter went from 46 cents to 49 cents. The new single-piece price increase also affects letters with additional ounces, letters to all international destinations, and postcards. The changes are intended to generate $2 billion in incremental annual revenue for the Postal Service. The Postal Service enacted the price increase above the consumer price index due to unexpected and unique circumstances. The United States Postal Service has experienced continued financial losses.
