Students Returned Home Safely in East Alabama

Friday, January 31, 2014

Dangerous road conditions coupled with motorists who weren’t used to severe winter weather conditions made it a terror on the highways. The sudden snow storm that hit the state made it impossible for buses to take students home on Tuesday. Here in East Alabama, Etowah County schools had the same problem.  Superintendent Alan Cosby says he is grateful for all the help from the community.  Calhoun County Sheriff Larry Amerson says his deputies worked until midnight getting area students home. School officials in Oxford expressed their gratitude to all the system’s employees for their dedication to the safety of our children. The state Department of Education says that all Alabama school students are now safe at home.  Alabama School Superintendent Tommy Bice is praising teachers and school employees who cared for students overnight. He says those school employees are heroes.
