Oxford's Roc Thomas to Visit JSU / Four Gamecocks Honored

Saturday, February 1, 2014

According to an AL.com report on Friday, Oxford's Roc Thomas will take a recruiting visit to Jacksonville State this weekend. The news is surprising on its surface, but understandable at its root. Although nothing official has been stated, reading in between the lines, it becomes clear that Thomas will likely be on campus to help his former Oxford High School Coach John Grass drum up excitement during JSU’s big weekend of recruiting. The new coach has been at his post for just over a week and knows the players can help spread his message.

Four Gamecocks Named All-Americans

Jacksonville State's Griffin Thomas, DaMarcus James, Max Holcombe and freshman Josh Barge were all named All-American, as announced by Phil Steele's College Football Preview on Friday.

Thomas was named first-team, while James and Holcombe were each named fourth-team All-American. Barge was named to the freshman All-American squad.
