American Red Cross Needs Blood Donations in Calhoun County

Tuesday, February 4, 2014

Last week’s severe winter weather impacts an important non-profit in our area.  In Alabama, severe winter weather forced the cancellation of 18 Red Cross blood drives, resulting in about 624 fewer donations than expected over the past four days. The American Red Cross is calling for blood and platelet donations.  They also need blood from donors with types O, A negative and B negative. There is a daily need for blood.  Hospitals need blood donations in case of accidents and in use of operations. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in for blood donation.
