Charged with Capital Murder in Gadsden

Tyree Young and Dexter Harris are now charged with Capital Murder in the death of William Meadows. They are also charged with Attempted Murder and First-Degree Robbery. Gadsden police responded to an assault at College Manor Apartments around 7:15 Sunday morning. They found William Meadows suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to Gadsden Regional Medical Center and later to UAB where he died. Police say Young and Harris are charged with attempted murder because one of the men pointed a gun at Meadows’ girlfriend and pulled the trigger. There was an audible click, but the gun did not fire. His girlfriend says that Young and Harris entered her apartment and searched a couple of rooms. That’s when she heard a sound like someone getting punched and then a single gunshot. Police arrested Young and Harris about an hour after the incident at a home on Florence Avenue in Gadsden.
