Wind Energy Update

A representative from Pioneer Green Energy visits Cherokee County to update the community on the Shinbone Wind Energy project. Patrick Buckley attended the Cherokee County Board of Education meeting Tuesday night. There has also been discussion about the company putting a wind turbine in the classroom at the Cherokee County Career and Technology Center. Buckley talked to school board members about what that would mean for the school system. An Economic Benefit Analysis from Jacksonville State University shows that the wind energy project could pump between $200,000 and $300,000 each year into the local economy. Cherokee County Schools would get 53 percent of that tax revenue.
