Attalla Mayor Larry Means is making a run for his old office. The former state senator officially qualified yesterday as a democratic candidate for the District 10 Senate seat that is currently held by republican Senator Phil Williams. Means was originally elected to the senate in 1998 and was defeated by Williams in the 2010 election after being indicted on gambling corruption charges. After a mistrial in 2011 and acquittal on the charges in 2012, Means successfully ran for the Mayor's office in Attalla - a position he had already held for two terms in the past. Senator Williams has also qualified to seat re-election in District 10. Qualifying for both parties is set to end on Friday.
