Sunday Alcohol Sales in Piedmont

Is the city of Piedmont getting closer to Sunday alcohol sales? According to The Alabama Senate, it is. The House committee on local legislation is considering a bill that would allow Sunday sales of alcoholic beverages in the Calhoun County town. The Piedmont City council met recently to discuss the wording of that legislation. The current bill indicates that Sunday sales would become legal immediately following its passage and approval by the Governor. That doesn’t sit well with some council members who thought they would have the final say if the legislation passes in Montgomery. There is also concern that the bill may also takes away the council’s authority to repeal Sunday sales in the future.
