Updated List of Warming Shelters
The East Alabama community continues to have a need for warming shelters because of the hazardous threat of severely cold temperatures. The Oxford Civic Center, Jacksonville First Baptist Church, Carver Community Center and The Salvation Army in Anniston are all open as warming shelters for Calhoun County. Cleburne County will shelter people in Heflin at the Cleburne County Mountain Center. Also, Etowah County’s warming shelter is at the First Baptist Church in Gadsden. Talladega County has a warming shelter opened at the Munford Volunteer Fire Department off of Hwy 21. And for Cherokee and St. Clair Counties, The Cherokee Health & Rehab education building will serve as a warming center and the Pell City Courthouse and Ashville Courthouse will both open as warming shelters. Piedmont residents can take shelter at the Piedmont Civic Center.
