Governor Robert Bentley awards a local venue for mountain biking a $350,000 grant. The grant will enable construction on Coldwater Mountain near Anniston. The project will consist of 11 additional miles of trail and renovation of five existing miles. The 4,083-acre complex currently includes more than 25 miles of biking trails. Plans also call for the creation of up to 50 miles of trail and links to other trails in the area. A representative of the Alabama Bicycle Association says, the trails are already in great shape and there are a lot of fun features. Currently, the trail system is a bronze level ride center. Officials say with continued support from the State it will one day become a gold level ride center.
