Alabama Power Pizza Party in Gadsden

Saturday, February 22, 2014

As TV24 and Alabama Power continue to recognize the centennial anniversary of the company’s Steam Plant in Gadsden, our cameras were on hand today as another group of 4th grade students enjoyed a pizza party courtesy of the power company. Students from Walnut Park Elementary School in Gadsden were among the local classes that took part in a special curriculum provided by Alabama Power that helped teachers focus on the historical significance of the Gadsden Steam Plant and the long relationship Alabama Power has had with Gadsden and Etowah County. Officials who were on hand today praised the unique public-private partnership that brought the program to Gadsden schools. The Walnut Park students won the pizza party and a cash prize for their school by creating and starring in a video that outlined everything they had learned about Alabama Power and the Gadsden Steam Plant over the past few months.
