Capital Murder

An Etowah County woman charged with Capital Murder for the death of her granddaughter is denied bond for a third time. During a hearing this morning, Circuit Judge Billy Ogletree also denied a motion to drop the charge against Joyce Garrard. She is accused of forcing Savannah Hardin to run for three hours as punishment for lying about eating candy two years ago. The 9-year-old girl collapsed and later died. Garrard's trial is set forJune 23. Judge Ogletree says he will rule next week on a motion for a change of venue for that trial.
