Woodland Girls & Sacred Heart Boys Prep for Final 48

The Woodland Lady Bobcats are one of four local teams headed to Birmingham this week for the Final 48 tournament. The best four teams in each class will take aim at the state championship. The Woodland Lady Bobcats won the Class 2A Northeast Regional on Saturday to punch their ticket to the BJCC for the third straight year. The Bobcats got 43 points from senior Leah Strain as they cruised past Lanett. The win puts them in position to do exactly what they did last year, take home the blue trophy as back-to-back champions. With all of last year's experience, they're taking a seasoned approach this time around. On the other side of the coin, everything for Sacred Heart is brand new. The Cardinals made the regional for the first time in school history last week and made the most of it by winning their first championship. Now, the dream season continues into the Final 48. While none of the Sacred Heart players have experience in the BJCC, head coach Ralpheal Graves does... He played on the Anniston Bulldogs state championship team in 2002. Final 48 Pairings- Local Tuesday 1:30 pm (1A Boys) Sacred Heart vs. St. Jude 6:00 pm (2A Girls) Woodland vs. Montgomery Acd.
