Groundbreaking for Local Hero’s “Smart Home” in Jacksonville

Jacksonville Alabama comes together to celebrate the groundbreaking for construction on a Smart Home for a local combat hero. Jacksonville resident, retired United States Marine Corps Sergeant Ben Tomlinson, was paralyzed from the neck down during a combat mission in Afghanistan. And, today, he joined with his community to start construction on a custom designed, specially adapted Smart Home. The Smart Home is a labor of love for The Building for America’s Bravest Program. It is a partnership between Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation and the Gary Sinise Foundation. The organizations work to serve only those most seriously wounded veterans who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Sgt. Tomlinson’s house will be across the street from a huge American Flag Mural which was dedicated to him last year prior to the Lieutenant Dan Band benefit concert which helped raise money to build this home.
