The Talladega E-M-A teaches the program to help educate students about disaster preparedness. Students are prepared for all hazards that may impact their area. They learn first aid, fire suppression, and light search and rescue. According to participants, the classroom setting creates an ideal environment for this kind of learning. One high school Junior finds that the light search and rescue portion is an important and interesting session for students. Talladega Fire department officials also find that the program is essential to their community. The sessions began in January. Students have 2 sessions per week.
