Gadsden Ambulance Company Files Bankruptcy

Last week we reported that workers with one of Gadsden’s ambulance companies had walked off the job – today we learn that Gadsden-Etowah EMS has filed for bankruptcy protection. The petition was filed yesterday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Alabama in Decatur. Workers who walked off the job on Friday said that recent paychecks had bounced and that, eventually, they weren’t getting checks at all. Officials with the City of Gadsden say that emergency ambulance services will not be compromised by the walkout and bankruptcy. Rural Metro Ambulance will be filling the gap left by Gadsden-Etowah EMS.
