Read Across America in Calhoun County

Students, parents, teachers, and school administrators celebrate the National Education Association’s Read Across America Day. It is the nation's largest reading celebration. The celebration’s mascot is Dr. Seuss, and his birthday kicks off the official Read Across America event. Schools nationwide will participate in the reading fun. Calhoun County School Superintendent Joe Dyar joins in the festivities by reading a little bit from a book titled: The Pout, Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen to TV24s viewing audience. Read Across America is an opportunity for the young and the old, but especially the young, to discover a passion for reading. The Calhoun County Superintendent shares a special message for the children in our region.The award-winning program started 17 years ago when the National Education Association partnered with Dr. Seuss Enterprises.
