If you cannot get your fill of chocolate delights…then the Rainbow City Chocolate Festival is the event for you. The city’s 9th annual festival will be held at the Rainbow Plaza Shopping Center on Saturday, April 5th from 10:00AM until 8:00PM. There will be a chocolate taste-off, a chocolate chug-a-lug, a chocolate fountain, an egg The festival will also have arts, crafts, and a variety of food vendors. Event organizers say the festival has grown every year and this year they expect more than last year’s crowd of 10,000 people. Governor Bentley is refusing to sign the new education budget unless it includes a two percent pay raise for teachers and public education employees. The governor says that he will send the budget back to lawmakers if they do not approve the raise. He also wants to include full funding for the teacher's insurance program. The Senate Budget Chairman says the state simply cannot afford the $74 million cost of a two percent cost of living raise. Lawmakers could override a veto by the governor if a majority of members in both chambers agree.
