Spring Break Driving Tips for Teens

Saturday, March 8, 2014

The Alabama Department of Public Safety recommends parents take time to do a pre-spring break talk with teen drivers. Research shows that the months of March and April bring heavier-than-usual traffic and more teen drivers in particular. Officials say there are traffic laws that parents and teens need to be aware of. The State Department of Public Safety encourages parents to remind teens to buckle up, to focus on the road, to avoid distractions like texting while driving and to obey speed limits and other traffic laws. It is also a good idea to review Alabama’s Graduated Driver License law. Stage 1 is the learner’s permit, Stage 2 is teen ownership of a restricted license, and Stage 3 is an unrestricted license. For additional information on the Graduated Driver License law and more go to dps.alabama.gov.
