Education Budget

Lawmakers are one step closer to passing a new education budget. The House Ways and Means-Education Committee today approved a version of the budget that gives teachers more money for their health insurance instead of a raise or bonus. The spending plan strips away a one-time 1 percent bonus for public education employees approved by the Alabama Senate. Governor Robert Bentley continues to push for a way to give a 2 percent raise to all public education employees.
