Gadsden City Council Approves New Ambulance Provider

Gadsden has been without a second ambulance provider for about a month. Today, the Gadsden City Council secures a company to be the ambulance provider licensed to serve Gadsden. The City Council members decided to stick with the current two- company system and gave approval for a new company called Advantage Emergency Medical Service to replace Gadsden-Etowah E-M-S. Gadsden E-M-S employees walked off the job February 21st. They say the owner had not paid them in weeks and that before that, their paychecks had bounced. That company handed in its medical transport license to the Alabama Department of Public Health on February 26th. The new company is already in the process of obtaining all of its certifications and licensing, so they will be ready to start taking calls in the near future.
