Gadsden Sunday Alcohol Sales
A bill to allow Gadsden residents to vote on whether to allow Sunday alcohol sales in their city has passed its final hurdle. The bill – which was sponsored by Representative Craig Ford and had already passed in the House of Representatives – will now go to the Governor for a final signature. The bill will require the Gadsden City Council to call for a referendum on the subject and for the vote to be held as part of the municipal election scheduled for August 26th. A Jacksonville State Economic Impact Study has predicted that seven-day alcohol sales will add more than $12 million dollars in new revenue to the city and create more than 400 new jobs.
