One local school board is another step closer to construction on their new school project. During Monday’s meeting, Jacksonville City Council members voted to donate land to the school board. It will give the school board the power to decide if they want the new location for the new Kitty Stone Elementary school to be located across the road from the current high school. According to city council members and school board members, many citizens still have a lot of questions about the school’s location. The Jacksonville school board has chosen an architect to do the plan and work for the new school project. McKee and Associates Architecture and Interior Design is the firm selected to build the school. The new elementary school will have to encompass about 85,000 square feet to accommodate approximately 800 students. It has a proposed completion date of January 2016.
