Bains Gap Road Project in Anniston

The Mountain Longleaf National Wildlife Refuge will be conducting preventative road maintenance on Bains Gap Road. They will close the road on Thursday, March 27th from 9:00AM until 3:00PM. According To Mountain Longleaf N-W-R officials, there is overhanging shrubbery large enough and low enough to hit large trucks that travel the route. Maintenance road crews will use the road closure time to cut back the foliage off the road. They also say that this is a good opportunity to keep the roads safe from any trees and large tree limbs that may fall onto the road in the case of another severe cold weather event. Mountain Longleaf National Wildlife Refuge is situated within the Southern Appalachian Mountain Range between Atlanta, Georgia and Birmingham, Alabama. The refuge is on the former military training lands of Fort McClellan.
