Former Alabama Senator Jeremiah Denton Dies

Jeremiah Denton, one of Alabama’s former Senators and a war hero who survived 7½ years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam died today. Denton is most remembered for alerting the U.S. military to conditions in North Vietnam when he blinked the word torture in Morse code during a television interview. He was 89.
