Alabama Department of Transportation Road Closure
Drivers in Clay County should prepare for a travel detour starting on Monday. More than a mile’s worth of Alabama Hwy 49 north of Lineville will be closed due to excavation, topsoil re-stabilization, and restriping of the road. According to a press release from the Alabama Department of Transportation, the road will close from its intersection with Hwy 9 in downtown Lineville to its intersection with McVey Road. Officials say they will change the route of traffic onto Alabama 9, and then west onto McVey Road. The southbound traffic will follow the same route in reverse. Travelers in that area should expect, and prepare for, delays.
