One local community continues to experience regional economic increase with the growth plans of a new major retailer. The city of Oxford celebrates the official opening of the Sam’s Club hiring and membership center on Highway 78 with an official ribbon-cutting. Sam’s Club representatives, Oxford Mayor Leon Smith , and other city officials gathered at the center, today. Sam’s Club plans to hire 170 full-time and part-time hourly associates. The store will hire people for the positions of cashiers, overnight stockers, cake decorators, meat cutters, tire technicians, and pharmacy technicians. The day’s festivities also included Mayor Smith getting some special recognition. The Hiring and Membership Center will be open Monday through Saturday from 8:00AM to 8:00PM and on Sundays from 1:00PM to 6:00PM. for applicants to apply for jobs. The location of the new Oxford Sam’s Club will be at the Oxford Exchange. The store has not released its exact opening date. The plans for its grand opening are set for some time in the summer.
