Bentley Pushes 2% Pay Raise

Governor Bentley is still hoping that his dedicated rallying of politicians in Montgomery to give school employees a pay raise will pay off. Bentley says he still hopes to get a 2 percent pay raise approved for public school employees. The raise would be for the 2014-2015 school year and it would be the state’s second consecutive 2 percent raise for school employees. Today, Bentley said that he’s glad that he and legislative leaders agreed to increase funding for the education employees’ health insurance program, and he says that should keep them from having to pay higher costs. If lawmakers are going to act they have only a short amount of time to do it. There are only three meeting days left in the legislative session.
