Goodyear in Gadsden 85th Anniversary

Etowah County’s largest employer turns 85-years old this year and is planning special events throughout the year to celebrate. The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Plant in Gadsden produced its first tire in June of 1929 and now employs more than 15-hundred workers and continues to produce tires for passenger cars and light trucks. The first in the series of anniversary events will be a celebration for Goodyear-Gadsden retirees. The retiree celebration will be held on April 24th at Convention Hall in Gadsden. The event will feature a hot dog lunch, Goodyear memorabilia reflecting the 85 year history of the plant and music from the Goodyear Good Guys. The event starts that day at 10:00am and all Goodyear retirees are invited to attend. Additional anniversary events for Goodyear associates and the community will take place throughout the summer.
