The 161st Basic Police Academy at the North East Law Enforcement Academy holds its basic training graduation, today. State, county, and city law enforcement officials and family members joined together to celebrate the accomplishment of the entry-level officers. Sylacauga Police Chief Chris Carden was the keynote speaker and in his address encouraged the new graduates to remain honest and fair. Many of today’s graduates felt it was important to be brave members of law enforcement, to continue the tradition of serving communities by keeping people safe, and to remember the importance of remaining loyal to one’s family. One graduate is the brother of local military hero, Ben Tomlinson. The Law Enforcement Academy is located on the satellite campus of Jacksonville State University located at 100 Gamecock Drive in Anniston.
