Larry Strain Hired as White Plains Head Football Coach

The head football coaching vacancy at White Plains has officially been filled. On Friday, the Calhoun County Board of Education approved the hiring of former Woodland coach Larry Strain. Strain spent the last 16 years with the Bobcats coaching both football and girls basketball. On the gridiron, his teams have made the playoffs in the last 10 consecutive seasons and made trips to the Super Six in 2004 and 2006. Strain led the Lady Bobcats to the Class 2A basketball state title in the last two seasons. Both of his daughters (Courtney and Leah) are set to play hoops at Jacksonville State- which made the decision also family-based for him. Strain will lead White Plains through spring practice next month and the Wildcats will participate in the Calhoun County Spring Jam against Pleasant Valley and Ohatchee.
