ARC Visits Piedmont Middle School

One local school is making sure their students make use of new laptops that the Appalachian Regional Commission helped to purchase. Last year, the commission gave The Piedmont city school system $100,000 dollars in funding for 200 replacement computers. The students and teachers have implemented the cutting-edge technology into their school work, and they find that it helps to keep both student and teacher connected in a way that they were not before the addition of the laptops. Piedmont Middle School not only had visitors from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs but also from the Appalachian Regional Commission. The two agencies stopped by the school to tour the classrooms and see what the laptop initiative has meant to the school system. Participants of the initiative say they are excited to see what the investment has done for the children of their community.
