Cleburne County Baseball Preps for No. 3 Oneonta (2nd Round)
The intensity around high school baseball is heating up as the 2nd round of the playoffs approaches. TV24 SPORTS dropped by Cleburne County High School Wednesday afternoon as the Tigers get set for a big matchup against Oneonta. It’s not much of a surprise that the Tigers are back in this part of the postseason, but their journey has not been typical for them. Through the first 10 games of the season, they had a dismal 3-7 record, but they’ve turned things around in the last two months. The Tigers have won six of their last eight games including a first round sweep of Locust Fork.
Up next is Oneonta who held the No. 2 spot in the state rankings for the majority of the season. But don’t expect and intimidation from Cleburne County. The Tigers swept the Indians in the second round last season and they know what it will take to come up big again. This season marks Cleburne County’s 10th consecutive berth in the playoffs and that experience under the pressure will serve them well.
The Tigers and Indians best-of-three series begins with game 1 Friday at 5:00pm. Game two is slated to begin at 7:00pm. If necessary game three is scheduled for Saturday at 2:00pm.
