Money for Cleanup at McClellan

Friday, April 25, 2014

The McClellan Development Authority has received $56 million dollars to complete cleanup efforts at the former Fort McClellan property. The MDA will use the money to pay for the removal of unexploded ordnance, plus other environmental cleanup and monitoring. Executive Director Robin Scott says the ordnance cleanup should be complete by the end of the year, clearing the way to move forward with more land development. The cleanup process has been underway since the fort officially closed in 1999.
