Leadership Calhoun County Leadership Luncheon in Oxford

A local organization looking to prepare and build leadership resources within its community hosts a leadership luncheon at the Oxford Civic Center. Leadership Calhoun County is a program of the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce, and today the organization’s alumni and current class met to discuss the past, present, and future of local leadership and how they can promote their community. State Superintendent of education, Dr. Tommy Bice, was the guest speaker at the luncheon and he acknowledged the successful progress of educational systems within Calhoun County and the city of Anniston. He also talked about the current controversy surrounding educational legislation regarding the curriculum of Common Core Standards. Each Leadership Calhoun County class is comprised of leaders and emerging leaders from around the area. The program is looking forward to its thirtieth year with the class of 2015. They will be recruiting for their new class this summer. If you would like more information, contact the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce at 256-237-3536.
